The easiest answer is to purchase a feeder with a bee guard. You can check your feeder to be certain it does not leak. Cheap feeders often break down with the elements and leak. Leaky feeders attract bees. Please do not use insecticides. These chemicals will make hummingbirds sick. You can try setting out a plate of high concentrate sugar water with a ratio of 2 parts sugar to 1 part water near the feeder, sometimes the bees will move to that. You can gradually move it away from the feeder. Do not use insecticides.Hummingbirds can get these chemicals on their wings and ingest it while they are preening (washing) their feathers. A few people wash the outside of their feeders everyday. Although, this requires extra maintenance, it might work for you.
Keep feeder away from trees and mounted on metal rod
To keep mourning doves away from a bird feeder with safflower seeds, you can try using a feeder with smaller openings that only allow smaller birds to access the seeds. Another option is to place the feeder in a more enclosed space or add a baffle to the feeder pole to deter larger birds like mourning doves. Finally, offering a separate feeder with seeds specifically tailored for mourning doves may help attract them away from the safflower seed feeder.
You can, but I wouldn't recommend it. All of the traffic might keep the mother from sitting on the nest.
A bird feeder must have a sturdy structure to hold food, strong perches for birds to rest, and drainage holes to prevent water accumulation. Additionally, it's beneficial to have a squirrel guard to deter unwanted visitors.
Not in my experience. I put up a four perch feeder on a tree in myfront yard. A squirrel reached over to feed from it. I chased it away. The birds still came at feeding time to eat. I just wish there was a way to keep the House Sparrows away from it. They are so aggressive when they feed. Attacking each other and the Cardinals that I do attract. I extended the feeder out more to keep the acrobatic squirrel out and taped off three of the perches. This kept the crowding down and the cardinals have more to eat when they come now. Any colour that's not bright and attractive; dull, natural colours like greens and browns may help.
Army ants are the name given to several species of aggressive ants. The worker ants produce pheromones to keep army ants marching.

Ants (and all insects) are cold blooded so they don't keep their bodies warm.
Communities do not generally have laws prohibiting cats from running free, but there are ways to keep them away from your bird feeder. The most obvious is to position the feeder high enough off the ground and far enough from trees and branches so the cat can't get at it. If this doesn't help, there are sprays and electronic deterrents such as CatStop (which should cost less than $50). Also, you say you have a dog. If your yard is fenced, you might try keeping him in the area near the bird feeders. Cats generally don't hang around dogs.
Yes, it is. But since peppermint oil is volatile - meaning it evaporates (quicker in warmer weather) you do have to replenish it at least every couple weeks. Hopefully, the squirrels would lose interest during those couple weeks, but they may come back. If you are putting it on a bird feeder, that will work since birds do not have a sense of smell, but squirrels do. Keep in mind, squirrels will NEVER lose interest in the bird feeder, so some other solution like a cone on the bird feeder post would work better. If you want to keep them out of your attic, soak something, like a small rag or cotton ball, with the peppermint oil and stick it where you think the squirrels are getting in.
