sleep with your mouth open or drool
Open your mouth when you see a fly. In your lifetime you will eat at least 8 flies and spiders in your sleep.
it means you sleep with your mouth open.
People don't say not to speak with your mouth open, they say not to eat with your mouth open.
Yes, you do eat spiders in your sleep. Spiders like wet, damp, dry places. When you sleep with your mouth open, they crawl in and wake you up. Your instincs are to swallow once you wake up, so there goes the spider! Whether or not you eat 8, we are not posotive of the exact number. Hope this helps! :)
Alligators typically sleep with their eyes closed, floating at the water's surface or resting on the shoreline. They have a nictitating membrane that covers their eyes for protection while still allowing them to stay alert to potential threats. Alligators may also burrow into mud, vegetation, or a den on land to rest and regulate their body temperature.

This is an urban myth. In order for a sleeping person to swallow a live spider there would involve many highly unlikely circumstances. There are no formal scientific or medical records of anyone ever swallowing a spider while sleeping.
A number of reasons; various illnesses, posture and sleeping position, dental reasons, etc. Those who breathe by mouth during sleep, for whatever reason, are naturally much more prone to this (during sleep, you produce less saliva, but also swallow less frequently, and it can build up and trickle out the corner of the mouth if one sleeps with their head on its side). If you snore, you likely drool a bit too, but it may evaporate before you wake and you'll never be the wiser.
The mucous membranes get dry when sleeping with the mouth open. A dry mouth permits bacteria on the teeth and gums to multiply, so the person can end up with more tooth decay. Also the throat can get sore, especially during winter when the furnace is operating. Dry heat that produces more dry mouth can affect the sinuses as well and can cause nasal congestion. Lastly, most people who sleep with the mouth open will drool some on the pillow rather than swallowing during sleep.
