Yes and no. You can choose what job you want to apply for say for example Pilot. But certain things depends on age, qualifications and ability, like for pilot... 5 GCSE's of C grade or above including maths and science and English along with 2 A-levels. Age of 17.5 upwards and which aircraft you fly depends on what aircraft they need pilots for and how good a pilot you are when you pass your test.

"Spitfires" were the main "fighter" planes. "Hurricanes" were important too, particularly during the "Battle of Britain". There were several other fighter planes too. There were also several types of "bombers" and other planes.
