Nelson Mandela had several health issues throughout his life. In 1985, while in prison, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis, for which he received treatment. In 2001, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and received treatment for that as well. In his later years, he also experienced respiratory infections, which were attributed to the long-term effects of his tuberculosis.
