The Great Leap Forward and the Five-year plan. Sorry I'm not quite sure what they're about. Mao Zedong tried to reduce China's dependency on foreign industry by instituting the 5-year Plan. The first plan was successful, but the second called the Great Leap Forward was not. Mao tried to focus on heavy industry by tightening control of faming collectives, collective ownersip of farm implements, and massive infrastructure projects. Unrealistic regulations created a famine and the infrastructure projects failed becasue Mao had previously had the intellectuals of China shipped to labor camps in the country so the projects had no leadership.
Mao introduced land reforms and he first Five Year Plan, which was to increase Chinese industrial output and put it on the path to becoming a world power. The Great Leap Forward was meant to modernize China to compete with the United States. Finally, the Cultural Revolution established his absolute power to control both the party and the nation.
Chairman Mao was a dictator , so there was no freedom of speech, action , or movement, and kept them where the country needed them. Deng Xiaping, had other ideas, he saw that China had fallen way back to the west so he improved industry and education , he also brought the one child rule to control the population.
