In the US today, voter surveys are intended to find out how voters feel or believe about particular issues such as who is the candidate they favor to be the next US president. These surveys are conducted by companies that are in the business of taking surveys, newspapers and other news media outlets. Often a political party will ask a private company such as the Gallup Poll to gauge voter opinions on a variety of political issues.
