I have found through experience that hot rolled steel will take 95/5%
solder, and that cold rolled will not solder, reason is the cold rolled steel molecules are arranged differently that the hot roll, they are so to speak pushed into the final dimension with extreme pressure this also causes
a so called hardened tempered surface on the cold roll steel that has to be annealed so that it can be drilled. cut or soldered.
No, cold-rolled steel should not be soldered. Scale, rust, or other contaminants commonly coat cold-rolled steel, making it difficult for solder to adhere properly. Furthermore, cool moved steel has a higher liquefying point than most fastening combinations, making it hard to accomplish major areas of strength for a. When joining cold rolled steel, it's best to use alternative methods like welding or brazing because they give better results in terms of strength and durability.
The cold-rolled steel's surface properties can make it difficult to solder. The smooth and frequently coated surface of cold-rolled steel can make it challenging for solder to adhere properly. Cold-rolled steel may also have an oxide layer that makes soldering even harder. It is by and large prescribed to pre-treat the surface by cleaning and roughening it to work on weld attachment. Additionally, the process of soldering can be aided by employing a steel-specific flux. However, it is essential to keep in mind that soldering may not be as effective at joining cold-rolled steel as welding or brazing.
from what i can gather, which isn't alot:Cold Rolled Steel Strip is produced, as the term suggests by the further rolling of strip produced by the hot strip mills.Prior to cold rolling, the mill scale has to be removed, normally by the Pickling Process which uses mechanical manipulation (around small diameter rolls) and acid to dissolve the surface scale. The surface is then washed to remove the acid and a light oil added to prevent rusting.Mild steel sheet is manufactured generally in two grades, cold rolled and hot rolled.Hot rolled mild steel sheet is the initial product produced by the steel mill as a downstream process prior to further processing such as cold rolling.Hot rolled mild steel sheet has a mill scale which is usually black in colour. Hence the common name Black Mild Steel Sheet. Black mild steel sheet is commonly used in fabrication shops, it is more economical than cold rolled mild steel sheet.Black mild steel sheet will usually require more preparation work prior to any finishing system being applied.Cold rolling is done to:Reduce the thicknessImprove the surface finishImprove the thickness tolerancesTo offer a range of "tempers"As a preparation for surface coating
When iron is smelted from its ore by commercial processes, it contains more carbon than is desirable. To become steel, it must be melted and reprocessed to reduce the carbon to the correct amount, at which point other elements can be added. This liquid is then continuously cast into long slabs or cast into ingots. 96% of steel is continuously cast, while only 4000 ingots are cast per year. The ingots are then heated in a soaking pit and hot rolled into slabs, blooms, or billets. Slabs are hot or cold rolled into sheet metal or plates. Billets are hot or cold rolled into bars, rods, and wire. Blooms are hot or cold rolled into structural steel, such as I-beams and rails. In modern foundries these processes often occur in one assembly line, with ore coming in and finished steel coming out. Sometimes after a steels final rolling it is heat treated for strength, however this is relatively rare. Hope this helped

A mill certificate can be a steel industry document that is used to certify the manuafacturing standards of the products produced by the mill. It can specify the following: A recognized Standard specification number such as an ASTM or AISI number (Ex ASTM A106. The ASTM is the American Society for Testing and Materials. This identifies the type of product (sheet, plate, tube, bar, etc.) and the set engineering standards to which it is produced. An analysis of the elements (%) that make up the content of the mill product. Ie. carbon, nickel, titanium. Brief description of the goods such as galvanized carbon steel sheet, welded tube, seamless pipe, zinc coated, hot rolled or cold rolled plate, etc.
Bloom : A semi-finished long product of greater than 150 mm square or rectangular cross-section. Blooms can be produced by continuous casting or by rolling from ingot. Continuously cast rounds of 300mm diameter or greater are also referred to as blooms.Billet : A semi-finished long product of up to 150 mm square cross-section with round corners. Billets can be continuously cast or hot rolled from either ingots or larger concast billets and blooms. Cold Rolled Steel
Steel which has been rolled out at temperatures below red heat, and then coated with zinc.
In order to help you classify your product, I will need further clarification. Do you mean "cold rolled steel, in coils" or "coils made of steel"?
They are two different things. Zinc plated means it's coated in zinc. Cold rolled means it's "smashed" into shape without added heat. So you could have something that's cold rolled AND zinc plated!

Cold rolled carbon steel
Hot rolled steel must be descaled by pickling in acid with a lime water rinsebefore it can be cold finished
