I have had a GT Talera 21 speed for the last 10 years. My dad bought it for me from my uncle when I was around 14 years old & I am still riding it at 25. I remember he bought it for around $250, when at the time it was only 2 years old & barely used. I have thought about listing it on Craigslist & 11 years later I am guessing I could still get $75 to $100 for it as I have taken excellent care of it. Hope that helps!

While a true count can never be obtained because not many that participate in this BADASS sport are not affiliated with an organised league, the ratio of mountain bikes to road & cruiser type bikes in the US has been steadily climbing at a staggering rate every year since the early 80's. Almost all bike shops have said that the basic mountain bike has been their hottest sellers since the 90's and most people, when asked what bike they would most likely want, would go with some off road capable bike. the split in America right now is at the 60/40 range with road and cruisers being the lesser of the ratio.
