Biomass energy generally refers to using energy from resources such as animal waste and municipal waste, or resources such as corn or sugar cane. Instead of using energy stored in large deposits under ground, biomass energy uses energy stored in the enviroment. This is a process that instead of produces more carbon actually recycles it. Example: Fuel made from animal waste is converted into gasoline (or a usuable substitute). A car burns the fuel creating CO2 and H2O (carbon dioxide and water). Plants use the CO2 and H2O during photosynthesis and create more food for animals that create more waste. The waste is used for fuel again.

How is the energy of biomass converted?

Biomass energy is converted through various processes such as combustion, gasification, and fermentation. Combustion involves burning biomass to produce heat or electricity. Gasification converts biomass into a gas that can be used for fuel. Fermentation is used to produce biofuels like ethanol from biomass sources such as crops or waste materials.

In which way is biomass useful?

Many biomass fuels can significantly reduce carbon emissions if they are used to displace fossil fuels. Some types of biomass can also be converted into liquid which can be used for vehicles. Biomass fuels can be cheaper than fossil fuels in many circumstances. It is renewable and is not dependent on fossil fuels. While biomass can be used directly, it can be used to produce higher forms of fuels. Listen to mia. she knows everything.
