Why do Asian people celebrate Christmas?

It depends on their religion. Obviously Christians are going to observe Christmas in traditional ways, while secular celebrations of the holiday tend to be much less pronounced.

When I was in Japan, I was told by my daughter's sewing lady, they don't celebrate Christmas. They are buddists; not Christians.

Christmas is a religious festival not a national one. Japanese Christians would celebrate Christmas the same way Christians elsewhere would do so.
