It all began in 1929, when Menton became the first producer of lemons continent. To celebrate the first flower and citrus exhibition was held in the gardens of Hotel Riviera. It was so successful that the following year, the exposure in the streets with wagons beautifully planted with Oranges and lemons. In 1934, the Fête du Citron or Lemon Festival was officially born.
