NO. Don't get your spouse a plastic rose for Valentine's Day. It could be considered a symbol of fake love, so if you really love your spouse, then I suggest you get them a real rose, or two. Or a dozen.
Since plastic flowers are most often seen decorating gravesites, I'd say that it might possibly be a not-so-subtle hint that the affair may be over.
YEA! there is a story where a man gave his lover a dozen roses, all of which were real but one, he said to her "My love for you will end when the last flower in this bouquet dies." ....if you don't get it that means it'll never end! duh.
but you cant just throw fake flowers at yer lover and groan "haph valentine.." you have to make it look like more than it is, not just flowers but yer <3. that's what valentines is about, expressing your love, not throwing meaningless flowers-that-would-be-dead-in-a-week around.
Each color has a meaning. Red is I LOVE YOU (appropriate for a mom!) Peach is appreciation. You can look up the colors, or just get your mom her favorite. Either way, I think your mom will be happy you got her roses on Valentines day!
Pink roses! Perfect gift.
