There were a number of Christian crusades to retake holy places in/around Jerusalem.

King Sigurd of Sweden led a crusade, King Louis the 9th (A total failure), King Richard the Lionheart led the 3rd and very successful Crusade. There were perhaps a half-dozen more Crusades after the 3rd.
