Not really. The question is poorly posed. Africa is a name that western civilization has given to a continent of many different peoples and languages. African civilization thus has many different connotations and differing attributes depending upon which portion of the continent you are referring to. It has not been renamed Certainly Africa has experienced many different changes in its various civilizations in many ways over the centuries. But to say that "it" (African Civilization) has changed its NAME is simply non-sensical. Whatever changes have been wrought, it is still the same name that is used for it. Each language spoken in Africa may have a different word for it, and perhaps this naming has been altered within one or more of each language over time, but western civilization has always called it African civilization and not changed the wording.( As it has done in Persia which is now Iran; or Siam, which is now Thailand.
