∙ 13y agoThe conventional answer to this question is probably "rationality" or "reason."
Personally, I don't buy it. The Middle Ages were, in my opinion, more creative and more rational than the Renaissance. Please see the link to a related question below for an explanation.

The Renaissance was not labeled the "dark ages". Renaissance means "rebrith" and it came AFTER the "dark ages or the middle ages."
