Because slavery had existed for so many years, well before even the American Revolution, slavery became part of the US culture. It worked well for owners of large plantations to buy slaves and have them work the fields.
Because no one had the foresight to see that forced labor would become such a large rift between the States, the plantation owners believed that slavery was the best way to farm their tobacco & cotton fields.
Because the cotton industry was labor intensive, and that labor meant working in the fields or picking cotton all day long. Most white Americans and new arrivals either worked in the new industries near the cities or wanted to farm for themselves. The offer of doing tedious and often back-breaking work under a hot sun found very few takers there.
The need for cheap labor was a major factor in the importance of slavery in the American South. The incomes of the wealthy plantation owners depended the forced labor that was performed by enslaved men, women and children. The cotton and tobacco economies in place at the time would have collapsed without the benefit of unpaid labor. Owners could pay their slaves nothing and yet reap the benefits of their labor. There were ongoing profits made by selling their children.
Slavery supported many business interests besides plantations. There were profitable slave trade networks that included the procuring, transporting, selling and financing of slaves.
Slavery was cheap labor and Southern plantations exploited slave labor to grow and harvest crops. This was true before and during the US Civil War.

Slavery devoloped in Georgia because the people in Georgia needed more farmers, so they borrowed enslaved African Americans from South Carolina. Then increased the number of slaves in Georgia.
southern colonies: farmers , etc.New England colonies: not much farming, whaling and doctors though.middle colonies: they were known as "bread basket" because of rich soil., so farming. Also fur traders.
The Southern Colonies were of an agrarian economy, so they worked in agriculture, which called for plantations for the crops and the slaves to work on the crops. This became so deeply rooted that this is why the Southern Colonies that were soon to be the Southern States wished for slavery to be legal in the US.

Slavery provided labor for the developing textile industries in the southern colonies.
Southerners were mostly farmers at the time, and slaves worked for free, leaving the farmers with a leisurely life, acting only as a martinet.
Slavery was important in the middle colonies because they were used as farmers. The soil in the middle colonies was very fertile. Slaves were also used as nannies for children
The Cherokee Indians were moved from the west so the southern farmers could have more land to grow important crops like cotton which was demand greatly by northern factories who "opposed" of slavery
the northern and southern states differed in their attitudes toward slavery because the northern states were against slavery while the southern states were all for slavery, in fact they had slaves. The northern and southern states disagreed about it so much that it caused a war, known as the civil war.
