∙ 12y agoHe wasn't "against" it. He was a fraud and hypocrite who sought to harm Germany under cover of soothing words. He lied through his teeth, and treaty of Versailles is as much his handiwork as any one else's.

President Woodrow Wilson supported the Treaty of Versailles even though he was somewhat dissatisfied with it. His goal in supporting the theory was to achieve world peace by decreasing the army and navy of Germany.
Everyone supported the treaty of Versailles except Germany because they were the ones paying the debts
1) Woodrow Wilson (the US president at the time) believed that Germany should be punished, but not so severely. He wanted a just (Fair) settlement that wouldn't leave Germany fealing powerless. 2) Woodrow also wanted to set up an international organisation called "The Legue Of Nations" which/who would settle the disputes fairly 3) The US didn't support these ideas. They soon became fed up with the involvement in the European problems that they had. The US became more of an ISOLATIONIST
The fact that it limited Germany's military power to an amount only adequate for defense.

One of the main objectives of both France and Britain in the aftermath of the First World War was to ensure a strong France by weakening Germany. Therefore the Treaty of Versailles had punishing economic and military sanctions against Germany. However, although US President Woodrow Wilson was a key figure in the negotiations leading to the Treaty, the US did not support the French position--it did not sign the Treaty of Versailles, or endorse its provisions. The US signed a separate treaty with Germany in 1921.
