I've been dealing with this for about 20 years now. I'll wake up after a few hours sleep and it will feel like I'm holding on to a lump of burning charcoal. Some say it's Carpel Tunnel, they had theirs diagnosed, I have not. The over the counter remedy that has worked for me and MANY others has been a daily dose of 50 -100 mg of Vitamin B-6, no more and not B Complex it doesn't work as well. Doctors will tell you that there is no proof that it works but I can tell you that for me and others it does. It may take up to 2 weeks before the pain is really relieved but for most it's less time than that. If I run out and quit taking the B-6 then the pain is back within 2 weeks.

Almost all Americans celebrate the 4th of July.
Not everybody feels like they are dying when they smoke blunts. You might be having a panic attack. Some people who smoke marijuana experience panic attacks as a side effect, especially from high doses. A panic attack can feel like you are dying -- you feel terrified and your heart races, you might feel weak, tingly or dizzy, have chills or sweat, and you might have chest pain or trouble breathing. If smoking blunts makes you feel awful maybe you shouldn't smoke them.

If something endangers your body, e.g. a hot iron, if you felt no pain you might let it go on burning you (without even knowing it) to the extent that you might die. If someone chopped your arm off and you did not feel it you might bleed to death. So pain is there to help protect you.
EWWW! That was RANDOM!
