It is considered part of the classical period along with the Qin and Han. However this the term 'classical period of China' usually refers to the Han Dynasty which lasted over 400 years. They rounded out China's basic political and intellectual structure. Han rulers retained the centralized administration of the Qin but sought to reduce the brutal repression of that period. Like many dynasties, they expanded Chinese territory, pushing into Korea, Indochina, and Central Asia. This expansion gave rise to direct contact with India and also allowed the Chinese to develop contract with the Parthian empire in the Middle East. The most famous Han ruler, Wu Ti enforced peace throughout much of the continent of Asia thus bringing great prosperity to China itself. - I'll stop rambling now. But please don't associate only the Zhou dynasty for the entire classical period of China. After all, what is considered the Classical Period lasted from 1000 B.C. to 500 A.D. To Zhou lasted till 256 B.C.
