Power is how energy works over time. In particular human energy and fuel energy influence actions that seem important. Power can be imagined as a light switch. When it is off, people and petroleum do not move or act. When it is on, they act as beliefs and economies need them to. The real power is control over that light switch. Knowing nothing about energy, the switch can still be moved with Power and nothing else. Power is not money alone. After President Nixon decided the American Dollar did not need physical precious metals to back it up, some powerful people on the other side of the world acted. Oil producers did not sell their energy to America because of their beliefs in the currency. The powerful people in America negotiated that oil producers would only sell their exports in Dollars, because of coercion and more abstract beliefs. The American Dollar then became basically the same thing as oil itself, with all its fuel energy. The Power of fuel energy then came under control with agreements. Human energy is also controlled by proxy of money, through taxes. The power to tax, belongs to the same people who stop whole economies and start new currencies/corporations. In short those with the gold have the power to make the rules. (America's economy would have been sold if it had stayed based on precious metals) So power is needed to keep our beliefs and economy unchallenged. Rich people keep the light on.
