Roman Catholic AnswerSt. Thomas of Becket had been chancellor of England under Henry II, who chose him to be Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Church in England. Thomas declined but was ordained anyway. He foresaw that he and the King would be at odds. After much fighting between the two, several of the king's supporters murdered Thomas in his Cathedral.
