Holocaust denial is a form of antisemitism or Jew-baiting. What the Jews suffered in the Holocaust was terrible, and then to tell the remaining Jews and their descendants that it's "all in their heads" or a lie is odious.

Most Holocaust deniers have a political agenda. They want to stir up hatred against the Jews and rehabilitate the Nazis.

In some countries in the Middle East (where Holocaust denial is widespread) many Muslims believe that the Holocaust is used or misused to 'legitimate' Israel.

The main purpose of denying genocide is usually to rehabilitate the perpetrators, in this case the Nazis, and to mock the victims and survivors. After all, neo-Nazis are well aware that the Holocaust and a host of other Nazi crimes and atrocities are abhorrent to all decent minded people.

Denial of genocide is common - for example, many Turks deny that the Ottoman Empire committed genocide against the Armenians in 1915-1917.

In World War 2 the Allies did nothing specifically targeted at disrupting tyhe Holocaust. There is a widespread assumption (for example in the US) that the guilt-ridden Allies established Israel after the war as some kind of consolation for the Jews. In fact, the key reason was that the British Mandate was about to expire and there was civil war in the British Mandate of Palestine. The United Nations opted for partition. If it's felt that Israel or "the Jews" or some Jews are exploiting the Holocaust it's perfectly possible to confront that specific issue without denying the Holocaust.

The majority of Holocaust deniers refuse, by choice, to believe that the Holocaust took place. The motives of the denialists is to mock the victims, the survivors and to bait Jews. Of course, another motive is the rehabilitation of the perpetrators.

The main reasons are: * Jew-baiting, a desire to mock the victims, the survivors and their descendants (antisemitism). * A desire to rehabilitate the Nazis. * Some believe that Israel has exploited the Holocaust and think the easiest solution is to deny the Holocaust. No serious historian has any time for Holocaust denial.

There are many reasons and people will not generally admit that it's anti-semitism, but say that they are simply weighing up the evidence that they have. David Irving said that his views are not anti-semitic in any way but says that 'history is like a tree' as it grows you gain more answers. It could possibly be due to attention seeking however! Irving did ask for a copy of Mein Kampf when he was younger as a prize at school which was obviously much more controversial at the time than it is today! I think you really have to delve deep into the answers to this question because it could simply just be attention seeking, anti-semitism or simply what they blieve. However I think that you can't possibly deny the Holocaust! It's offensive if you deny such an obviously true piece of key modern history.

___

Is the question about denying denial or about denying he Holocaust? It is very confusing at the moment.

No the Holocaust was never fake. Everything they said about the holocaust was real, we have proof that the holocaust was real.

There will, and there has. The further we travel (in time) from the Holocaust the more likely it is to happen, but fortunately, as the statement intended, we have time to prepare, to document what happened and to take witness statements so that those who would cast doubt can be silenced.

Because, they believe that some of the facts given are fabricated or such. Also, they believe not as many Jewish people died as stated since the Nazi also murdered Gypsies among other groups. Though the Jewish body count was at least in the hundred thousands.

What significant proof is there that the Holocaust did NOT happen?

The Holocaust DID happen- and there's no way you can possibly say it didn't. The concentration camps are still there as memorials. There are people who were THERE in the camps that are still alive today, and there's no way to fake the Holocaust pictures. --- The arguments produced by Holocaust deniers consist largely of picking over the accounts of survivors for trivial discepancies. Others are downright dishonest and fake counter evidence.
