I can't answer this question but I would like to say that I have noticed it.
I'm white and work in Brixton. I get a sandwich every day from somewhere around the centre if Brixton and it's almost guaranteed that I'll see a black person talking to them self, sometimes they are shouting at someone who isn't there?
I find this a little odd. I talk to myself sometimes but not outload as I'm walking along the street!
I can only assume that they must be as mad as cheese?

Whites, morenos, mulattos, and pretos... I don't think it's a derogatory remark since many people do describe themselves as "morenos".
