The Sons of Liberty Held the Boston tea party because they wanted to repeal the taxes on tea. In Great Britain tea is very important and the British drink it every day so the Sons of Liberty wanted to promote freedom to the colonists by making sure that Parliament (The British Government) understood that they wanted no taxes!
The Sons of Liberity didn't do the Boston Tea Party. Instead it was Dutch smugglers who were upset over the cost of the British tea. The British had lowered the cost of the tea which made the Dutch tea higher in cost. Hamilton who was a smuggler of the tea had his men throw the tea from 3 ships into Boston Harbor. If you wish more info on this I refer you to the book " I LOVE Paul Revere WHETHER HE RODE OR NOT.' by Richard Shenkman who has degrees from Vassar and Harvard. He was also a researcher on the Andrew Jackson paper project as well as has written other books on American history.
