You might say that the American Civil War was a war between two factions of whites or European Americans, but it was certainly relevant to African Americans, since the Confederacy intended to perpetuate the practice of holding African Americans as slaves, while the Union intended to discontinue that practice (and did so, after winning the war).
They could be arrested
That gun ownership is the equalizer against tyrants, theves and murderers, and was used in the reconstruction period by African-Americans many times.
Both were discriminated against in many ways including social and business ways. African Americans in the US have had to fight prejudice and violence for centuries.

apart from the fact that these "some" Asians might be attractive, African Americans and Asians share more cultural similarities than they seem like they do.

Because the South had African American Slaves, and they worried that Freed African Americans with guns might start a revolt, similar to Nat Turners rebellion which resulted in the deaths of a lot of people who kept slaves.
