(twice in Brazil, Florida, South Carolina, and Canada) Finally, in 1604, Samuel de Champlain founded a colony in Acadia (Nova Scotia) with the financing of Henri IV, the Huguenot king turned Catholic and assassinated in 1610. Many ccfrench huguenots came to the British colonies for the same reason.
