Italians immigrated to the United States because there was poverty, bad wages, high taxes, and overcrowding. In the north there was a spread of pellagra, which causes you to go insane and then die. And in the south there was malaria, which was once just on the coastline but due to all the deforestation that was going o, it spread up farther inland. Italians would also come over to America because they wanted to have the right to vote.
Italians came to America for the same reasons that every other ethnic group came: a better life. Rumors were rampant that the streets of America were paved with gold, everyone was rich, and life was at the highest standard. They hoped to leave behind sad memories, gain religious freedom, and have rich farmland and share in the wealth of Americans. It took awhile and they had to work hard, but they eventually achieved what they all hoped for.
immigrants hoped that their new homes in America would provide financial oppurtunities. also, povery was quite high. as Italy was a small country (and still is ), overpopulation was a big problem. there was not enough land to make a living.
also, there was a few volcanic eruptions and there was an earthquaqu in Sicily in 1908.
:)
Economic, political, and social reasons explain why Italians immigrated to the United States. Economically, they left to take advantage of job openings in agriculture, business, education, and technology. Politically, they migrated to take advantage of beneficial arrangements through emigration/Immigration societies. Socially, they removed themselves from their insular or peninsular homelands to join family and friends already abroad or in-laws when spouses were non-Italians.

States do not control immigration. That is the responsibility of the federal government. You immigrate to the United States, not to any specific state.
