There were huge riches avaliable in African countries. There were many Natural Resources avaliable there that couldn't be found in Europe, eg. spices, slaves, cheap labour, fabrics, foods, diamonds and gems, specimen plants, dyes, golds and metals, etc. These were worth a huge lot on the European market, and cost little to take from Africa.
