America got into WW1 because the German set up an unrestricted submarine warfare zone, and warned everyone, but America disregarded it. A British ship, the Lusitania, was hit by three German missles, and 128 American citizens were killed. It was a passenger ship, and the German s claimed it was carrying fire arms from America to the UK, wich later proved to be true.

  • Woodrow Wilson and his cabinet favored the triple entente from the beginning of the war
  • Sinking of ships carrying US citizens. (Lusitania)
  • Unrestricted submarine warfare and the sinking of several passenger ships by the Germans ( even though the passenger ships were used as human shields to smuggle in war materials)
  • Intercepted telegraph claiming Germany was asking for Mexico to invade the USA if the US was to enter the war. (Zimmermann Telegram)

it was because of German u-boat (submarines) sinking the lisutania ship. another reason was the Germans breaking the sussex pledge which sayd that America would remain isolationists if Germany left them alone, but Germany sent the zimmerman note to Mexico telling them if they attaked and whiped out the American army, Germany would give ll of Mexico's land, they lost in the Mexican American war 1853
