Why? Because you can't be just a nothing, you have to have something in common with parents and you can't have a plain face!

If you get two x chromosomes you will be a girl but if you get one y chromosome, you end up being a boy. Either way you will have two chromosomes and one of them will be an x.

What did Gregor Mendel learn about genetics while working with pea plants?

Gregor Mendel discovered the principles of inheritance by studying pea plants. He found that traits are passed down from parents to offspring in predictable patterns, and that some traits are dominant over others. Mendel's work laid the foundation for the field of genetics.

Were slaves selectively bred to produce offspring with specific traits during the period of slavery?

Yes, during the period of slavery in the United States, some slave owners selectively bred enslaved individuals to produce offspring with specific traits, such as strength or intelligence, in order to increase their value as property.

What are the similarties between Darwin's theory of evolution and lamarck's theory of evolution?

Darwin's theory was that beneficial traits would be favored in a population by a mechanism called natural selection. Lamarck proposed that acquired traits would be passed on to the offspring. Darwin's theory is favored over Lamarck's because there is no identified mechanism for passing on acquired traits e.g., your baby will not be born with pierced ears even though yours are pierced. In Darwin's theory, the traits that are favorable for an organism offer some adaptive advantage to those members of the population that possess it. Having the advantage allows them to produce more offspring e.g., rabbits range in color from black to white--in a snowy environment, the white ones have the advantage over the darker ones so they breed, well, like rabbits.

How are traits inherited from parents to offspring?

Traits are inherited from parents to offspring through genetic material passed down from each parent. Genes, which are segments of DNA, carry the instructions for specific traits. Offspring inherit a combination of genes from both parents, determining their unique characteristics.

What are some visible traits inherited by humans?

Characteristics passed down by parents to the offspring.

How traits are passed down?

When living things reproduce, their genes get passed on which contain some traits from that parent. This process continues as the organism reproduces.

What are some inherited trait?

Inherited traits are characteristics passed down from parent to offspring through their genetic material. Examples include eye color, hair texture, blood type, and certain genetic disorders. These traits are determined by the combination of genes received from both parents.

What is the definition of hereditary?

Hereditary refers to characteristics or traits that are passed down from one generation to the next through genes. These traits can include physical attributes, predispositions to certain diseases, or behavioral tendencies inherited from biological parents.

What happens to the offspring of hybrids?

The offspring of hybrids may show a combination of traits from both parent species. In some cases, they may be sterile or have reduced fertility. Offspring can also exhibit variation in their traits due to genetic recombination.

What is the passing trait from only parent to offspring?

its Heredity is the study of traits passed down from parents to offspring influenced by DNA. Heredity is a process in which a person gets some of the physical and mental qualities of his or her parents. The biological process whereby genetic factors are transmitted from one generation to the next.

What do organisims pass on their offspring?

Organisms pass down their DNA, their genetic code, down to their offspring during reproduction. This is what defines the offspring make up and determines what genetic conditions will be passed on to them.

Describe one way which the plantain can reproduce?

Some protists also can reproduce in pairs. Each member of the pair gives some hereditary material to the offspring. The ofspring are different from either parent. Hereditary refers to properties that are passed from parent to offspring.

Some human inherited traits are transmitted by Blood cells Bone cells Sperm cells Liver cells?

Some human inherited traits are transmitted or passes from parent to offspring by sperm cells.

What are seven kinds of evidence that support Darwin's theory of evolution?

Darwin's ObservationsThere is a variation of characteristics/traits within a populationTraits are passed from parent to offspring (heredity)Organisms produce more offspring that are able to survive (overproduction)Due to the lack of resources, some offspring may not survive
