Freedom from Britain!! It started because the British and colonists were both on some green and the British were like "get off our green!!" and the colonists claimed it wasn't the British's green... And basically it was fought so America could be a free country, not one colonized by Britain. =)
The French colonists treated the Native Americans with A LOT more respect than the other colonists did (including British colonists). The NAs would have rather had no colonization on their land at all, but given the choice to defend the peaceful French territory or fight alongside the British (who wanted to acquire that territory) it was an easy decision for them to make.

The Continental Army was fighting the war with Britain in the colonies. The advantage there is that the colonists were fighting in their own territory. The British army was 3,000 miles away from Britain.
The British raised taxes in the American colonies to pay for the fighting of the French and Indian war. They also expected colonists to pay for their own defense from the continued threat of Indians. Colonists were outraged by the taxes, and some began to organize protests
