Right now, the ship is slated to be named Gerald R. Ford. Veterans of the USS America would like the ship to be named America. Also, a Perry-class frigate is already named USS Ford, so there would be some confusion if there were two ships named USS Ford on active duty.
I think you made a mistake. The Uss Yorktown (CV-10) was an aircraft carrier that served from 1943 to 1970. The Uss Yorktown was actually CG-48 and was a cruiser. CG-28 was named Uss Mainwright.

There are many ships named after famous Marine Corps officers. Try being specific.. any time region you are looking for? A few ships are, USS Edson DD-946, USS O'Bannon DD-987, USS Shoup DDG-86, USS Vandegrift FFG-48 and USS Lewis B Puller FFG-23
