Confederate General, and the perfect team-mate for Robert E. Lee, with whom he carried out the bold thrusts that brought astonishing victories in 1862-3.

When he was wounded at Chancellorsville, and his left arm had to be amputated, Lee remarked "You have lost your left arm, and I have lost my right arm." Stonewall died a few days later. Lee and his army were never the same after that.
