They are far too numerous to mention. You could start with the entire populations of Stalingrad, Leningrad and Warsaw, particularly the Jews of the last. You could include every man under MacArthur in the Philippines, every man defending Wake Island and every man who jumped or stormed the beaches at Normandy. The lists could go on and on and on. Michael Montagne

All people that fought, where true heroes. Including ALLIES, AXIS and Neutrals. No one can include as heroes the allied soldiers only, that would be an insult to all the soldiers of the world that fought in every war. In war there are no Good or Bad neither soldiers of a country that go to heaven or go to hell , that is stupid Propaganda. (Because genocide and fascism isn't evil...)

Heroes can be considered Fighter Aces ,tank aces, great admirals, great generals and politicians or just soldiers, all are heroes.

There were heroes on both sides. The Allies had Alvin York, the men in Vimy Ridge and the Battle of Verdun, Lanoe Hawker; the Germans had the Red Baron. Of course there is the famous Christmas Truce from both sides.

No heroes other than anti-heroes: the war poets and the conscientious objectors.

The individual worker who built fighters, bombers, tanks, as well as ships and war materials, every day without complaining or medals. this includes women as well as men. The individual soldier who lived in the rain and snow, and with little sleep kept slogging it out every day, dispite living in constant fear of death. the sergeants and officers who looked out for their men, not caring about the next promotion. the medical staff who had to deal with the aftermath of battle. the families who waited for the long war to end,, not knowing when bad news may arrive. All the ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice, so that we can pray and live the way we want. today, Americans don't understand that there are those who would like to take those things away from us.
