The three of them couldn't have been less similar. The only thing they agreed on was independence. When they were together in France Adams and Jefferson shared rooms for awhile. In letters to his wife Adams complains that Jefferson has piles of books all over the room. He also complains about Franklin as the party guy and how he would party all night. Jefferson complains about Franklin not learning French. Eventually Adams and Jefferson later will quit talking to each other. Politically Adams is a federalist and Jefferson is an anti federalist, so in their presidential years they hated each other. Just before each man died they did meet and mended fences to some extent, but they died on the same day. As Jefferson was dying he is reported as saying that he had outlived Adams. Actually he died first and Adams died later that evening.
