According Vietnam "Military White Page" published in 2009, Vietnam currently does not intend or plan to join any allies group in the world.
Vietnam will be active foreign diplomatics and always look forward to rely on its internal power. Vietnam will not play one country against another, and will reinforce its military capability in Navy Force, Air Force, as well as Land Force to protect its ancestor land and sea, as well as to maintain the peace in the region.
Up to till now, Vietnam currently has no enemies, though there were several conflict with China in sea disputes. Vietnam government stated that Vietnam considers former friends as close friends as others is potentially new friends.

∙ 15y agoCommunist North Vietnam was supplied by the Communist Superpowers, Red China/Soviet Union with: Jets, Tanks, Small Arms, Ammunition, Artillery, Trucks, Fuel, etc. Men from the US, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, South Vietnam fought against the Communist NVA/VC.
