20 million were killed. not a nice man. absolute knob imo.
In Siberian slave labor camps.
Is this a joke? He killed and imprisoned more than a half of the people of the USSR.
Joseph Stalin sent people to Siberia when they didn't agree with him. He would have some people shipped to work camps in Siberia, exiled from the country or imprisoned and/or executed. Obviously, Stalin did not do those things to everyone who had a disagreement with him. He accepted some disagreements and had many more less extreme methods of dealing with such people. Stalin might have someone expelled from positions in the organs of the Communist Party or from the Party itself. He might dismiss someone from a job or position. Some people simply fell out of his favor and were relegated to unimportant tasks. If Stalin did not do those things to the person who disagreed with him, he might do them to a close family member of that person. Stalin had the wife of his Prime Minister and closest adviser during World War 2, Molotov, arrested and imprisoned. To some people, like Leon Trotsky, Stalin did "all of the above." He did this even to his own friends and family. As Stalin became more powerful, he became more ruthless. As he became more ruthless, he became more paranoid and fearful of revenge. He believed that differences of opinion meant lack of loyalty, which he saw as a sign of a potential threat from that person against him.
It was called the Big Purge. Stalin's reign of terror is referred to as the Great Terror or the Great Purge.
By far Joseph Stalin was worse than Lenin. Stalin sent millions of people to their unjustifiable deaths. Although Lenin was the leader of the soviet revolution he was never in power long enough to be responsible for the shear magnitude of human atrocities committed by Stalin. Lenin, however, was responsible for purging parts of some ethnic and government opposition groups. Stalin was one of Lenin's "enforcers" and would kill innocent people without cause, question, or concern. It was after Lenin's death when Stalin took over and had many high ranking military and revolutionary officer/officials executed. Also, he sent millions of innocent Soviets to Siberia as slaves and work them essentially to their deaths.

Being fined, tortured, imprisoned, and executed (although not all of them all the time).
Josef Stalin
The Great Purge was orchestrated by Joseph Stalin and took place from 1934 to 1940. During this time, Stalin removed thousands of people from the communist party in an effort to solidify his position. Being expelled from the party during this period often meant that you would also be arrested, imprisoned, and sometimes executed.

Stalin used brutality, intimidation, and public trials staged for show to rid the party of members who were disloyal or were working against the interest of state. People could be imprisoned without a trial for the most minor offenses.Hope that helps

They were either executed or imprisoned. Some of the people couldn't be found to this day because when the fall of Germany occured they all ran to different, obscure places to hide themselves.
Hitler and Stalin were alike in the way that they both used extreme measures that ended with the same basic results. Hitler was responsible for the death of million of Jews and Stalin was responsible for hundreds of thousands of death for the Jews. Stalin was also responsible for the deaths of thousands of communists he believed were disloyal to him. Between both dictators, millions of people were killed and or executed.
