Not any more. India was part of the British Empire once but has long since gained independence.
The British Empire no longer exists. However, there are around 50 countries who used to be part of the British Empire but are now independent and choose to remain part of the Commonwealth of Nations. Those countries include Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and many Caribbean countries.
All but two members of the Commonwealth of Nations were former British territories. That's the link. By the way, Zimbabwe is no longer in the Commonwealth.
There are many Asian countries which were in the British Empire, and Hong Kong was in the British Commonwealth until 1998. Countries in the Empire included India, Pakistan, Tibet (now part of China), Burma (now Myanmar), and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).
All non British, countries, colonies, territories or protectorates were not part of the British Empire.

Pakistan was a part of India before the British rule. I believe Nepal was formed out of India, but I am not sure. Otherwise, India and Pakistan used to be a part of "India."

Burma was never part of India. Burma was once "added" as a province of India after the British conquest of Burma in 1885, but broke away in 1936.
