The firth king king of Rome, Servius Tullius (reigned 578-535 BC) created a representative style of govereemnt by creating two popular assemblies with voting powers: the Assembly of the Soldiers and the Assembly of the Tribes. Rome had a monarchy for 244 years, a republic for 482 years and rule by emperors for 503 years.
