They were in the middle eastern and north. The territories had shifting boundaries due to wars, other clans influences and time in history.

First capital = Chang'an which is northwest of Xi'an in Shaanxi province. Since it's in the north, this is the "northern capital".

Second capital = Luoyang is the capital in Henan province. "Middle Capital" out of all three, it's the capital in the middle geographically [Luoyang is east of Chang'an, the first and northern capital]

Third capital = Xuchang also located in Henan province. = "Eastern capital". It is the Easternmost of all three capitals.
