Pomerania is an historic region on the south Baltic coast. It is currently divided between Germany and Poland. Most of Pomerania is now in Poland, the rest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Stalin moved the German-Polish border several hundred kilometers west in 1945. Between 1945-1950 Pomerania's native German population was removed and replaced by Polish and Ukranian settlers from further east, in was is considered to be the largest mass expulsion of an ethnic population in history.
