The arch of Titus was not commemorated, it was a commemoration. It was a triumphal arch. This kind of arch was an honorific arch which commemorated victories in battle. The Arch of Titus is on the Via Sacra, just to the south-east of the Roman Forum. It was built in 82 AD by Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus to commemorate Titus' victories in the First Roman-Jewish War, including the Siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
Probably the most famous street outside of Rome is the Via Appia or Appian Way. However in Rome itself the most famous street is/was probably the Vic Sacra, or Sacred Way. This was the street that led from the Pomerium to the Capitol and was used for religious processions and ceremonials. It was also the street that a triumphing general would ride along, displaying his loot. It can still be traced today.

Via Sacra is one of the many amazing tourist sites in Rome. Via Sacra, meaning the sacred road, is the Main Street and widest road in Rome. In Roman history this road was used for many religious festivals. This road was very important to the city. The Via Sacra led from the Pomerium to the foot of the Capitoline hill, upon which the temple of Jupiter was situated. Its main use was as a parade route for a triumphing general, who showed off his spoils of war.
