Kazakhstan is an oil-rich country. The USSR invaded them, and unlawfully seized the resources from the country. In exchange, they gave the country nothing.

Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev was the President of Kazakhstan in 1991, when Kazakhstan was part of the USSR, and after it declared independence from the USSR. He is the first and only President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.He first took power of the region as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Kazhak Socialist Soviet Republic in 1984 March 22. He was elected President of Kazhakstan by the Supreme Soviet, taking the position in 1990 April 22, and remained president when Kazakhstan declared independence on 1991 December 14 after he won a single candidate election. Nazarbayev was re-elected in 2005 December and 2011 April for another 7-year term.
