Benjamin Franklin was not the discoverer of static electricity. Although, he did give a history recorded presentation of it. Static electricity can be dated back to the 6th century BC, by Thales of Miletus, a Greek philospher. One of the first machines to artificially produce it was called "the friction generator" developed by Otto von Guericke in the 17th century. Franklin presented it again to the public in 1750. Franklin's experiment was merely to prove that lightning was electricity, not to prove that electricity existed. Hence, the name "Father of Electricity" is inaccurate. Electricity was known to exist at least a century before Benjamin Franklin conducted his kite experiment; various mechanisms for the manipulation, creation and storage of electricity had been invented, such as static electricity generators and Leyden jars.
The ancient Greeks discovered electricity in 600 BC
Benjamin Franklin proved that lightning is electricity by flying a kite in a storm with a key attached to the kite.
he believed that lightning was a form of static electricity on a huge scale..
The most common experiment that Ben Franklin is famous for is his key tied to a kite witch he proved that lightning is static electricity
static
Yes, but not only in expermentaion. Benjamin Franklin was experamenting with Static Electricity at this time
Benjamin Franklin is the American scientist who used a kite to demonstrate static electricity. He flew a kite during a thunderstorm, which led to the discovery of electricity in lightning.
Benjamin Franklin is credited with discovering electricity in the form of lightning, not static electricity. In 1752, he famously conducted his kite experiment during a thunderstorm to demonstrate the electrical nature of lightning.

The term "electricity" is derived from a term used by William Gilbert in 1600 to describe static electricity. The discovery that lightning is electrical was made by Benjamin Franklin in 1759.

No, not at all. Static electricity was known to the ancient Greeks.
Benjamin Franklin's experiments with lightning and electricity proved that lightning is electricity and that lightning rods can protect buildings from lightning strikes. His kite experiment demonstrated the connection between lightning and electricity.
