For some odd reason- and Mr. Putnam (pronounced Putt ( as in Golf-namm, not Put as in put-down)was an avid sponsor of her expeditions- which they really were- though some funding ( fuel I believe) for the Electra Project came from Gulf Oil- which explains the Orange stripes on the plane. The Gulf Oil company used surplus RB-37"s ( same type of plane) after the war as business transports, these bearing the Orange and white Gulf Oil logo. For some reason the Cause of the Earhart divorce- were never made public.
