The first German built ghetto was in occupied Poland at Piotrków Trybunalski in October 1939. The Germans went on to establish at least 1,000 ghettos for Jews. The Warsaw and Lodz ghettos were established in 1940.

The Lodz Ghetto was created by the Nazis in 1940 and liquidated in 1944. It lasted longer than any other ghetto.

Never. It was 'liquidated' by the Nazis in August 1944 and the small number of Jews still there were sent to Auschwitz.
