  • The Stamp Act - It was passed into Parliament because the British needed money (taxes) from the Colonists to pay for THEIR war. The Seven Years War with the French. Americans were required to pay tax on every piece of printed paper used. Ship papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed. They taxed everything they used on a regular basis.
  • The Quartering Act - Required all Colonists to house and feed the Redcoats at their own expense.
  • The Townsend Act - Taxed tea, sugar, glass for windows, paint...etc.
