The men and boys spent their days working in the fields and hunting. They cut firewood and made tools. They also raised cattle for food and leather and sheep for wool, the men also guarded the town. Women and girls would spend lots of the day slaving over the fire. They churned cream to turn into butter, they also dried fruits and vegetables and put them into jars. Women made the colonists' clothing and used animal fat to make soap and candles. They used pig hair and turned in into brushes.
The Colony needed lumbermen to clear the forests so that farmers could plant crops and produce livestock to feed the Colony. They needed fishermen to harvest the ocean and for that they needed shipbuilders. To survive they needed shelter and that meant carpenters, brickmakers and glassmakers had jobs.
