As proclaimed by President Bush Senior; "...We have beat the Vietnam Syndrome...we are united again at last...and victorious!" Operation Desert Storm brought victory and parades for a newly found pride in our armed forces. It was our first "big" victory in decades! Operation Urgent Fury (1983 Grenada) and Operation Just Cause (1989 Panama) were victories too, but NOT NEARLY AS LARGE AS THIS ONE! Desert Storm re-united the American people as Vietnam had divided it, the meaning behind President Bush Sr.'s statement to the people. Just as the Spanish-American War of 1898 had re-united the American people as the Civil War had divided it, and the Spanish-American War was nicknamed the "Splendid Little War" by the press. Desert Storm has been nicknamed the "100 Hour War."
