What was the role of Bahadur Shah Zafar in the revolt of 1857?

Its controversial. Bahadur Shah lost that mutiny. Many historians wrote about that 1957 revolt. But very little coincidence and conseuences. If that uprising by Sepoys was won by Bahadur Shah's men, we could say <a different story> and as a <lost chapter>, we can't talk about heroism.
